Before you email

A lot of common questions — how the rules work, why a particular word wasn't accepted, whether practice mode affects your streak — are already answered on the strategy guide and the FAQ sections on the homepage andpractice page. Worth a quick check before you write in, since you might get your answer faster that way.

What's useful to include

Reporting a word list problem

Poople's dictionary comes from a large, general-purpose English word list, filtered down to four-letter words. That process is mostly automatic, so it occasionally lets through a word that's too obscure to be fun, or misses a common word that should obviously be there. If you hit either case mid-puzzle, note the exact word and, if you can, the word you were trying to go from and to — that's usually enough for us to check the underlying data and fix it for future puzzles. We can't retroactively change a puzzle you've already played, but we can make sure it's better tomorrow.

Reporting a bug

If something breaks — a puzzle that won't submit a guess, a streak that didn't update, a layout that looks wrong on your screen — the most useful report includes what you were doing right before it happened, what you expected instead, and what device and browser you're using. A screenshot helps more than a paragraph of description most of the time, if you're able to send one.

Response time

This is a small, independently run site, not a company with a support team, so replies aren't instant. We do read everything that comes in, and word-list corrections in particular tend to get folded into the site fairly quickly since they're usually a small, well-defined fix.

What we can't help with

We don't have the ability to restore lost streaks or stats — since that data lives only in your browser's local storage and never touches our servers, there's no backup copy for us to pull from on our end. See the privacy policy for more on how that works, and why it's designed that way.

Press and partnerships

If you're writing about word games, puzzle sites, or the word-ladder genre generally and want background on how Poople's daily puzzle and dictionary are put together, the about page covers most of it; anything not answered there, feel free to email. The same goes for partnership or collaboration ideas — we read everything, even if we can't always act on it quickly.

Frequently asked questions

Can I suggest a new game mode or feature?

Yes — email us. We can't promise everything gets built, but specific, well-explained suggestions are far more likely to make it in than a general "make it better."

Do you accept guest posts, links, or sponsored content?

Not something we currently run, but you're welcome to ask.

I think I found a security issue — how do I report it?

Email a description of the issue and, if possible, steps to reproduce it. Please don't publicly disclose a security issue before giving us a reasonable chance to look into it.
